What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to be removed.
What we collect
When you sign up, we store the email address you give us. If you volunteer we also store your name, your ZIP code, the kinds of help you offered, and anything you typed in the message box. If you RSVP to an event we store which event.
We store a one way cryptographic hash of your IP address, not the address itself, purely to limit how many times the form can be submitted from one place. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.
The site counts page views through Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you. There are no advertising trackers and no third party scripts on any page.
Why we have it
To contact you about this campaign, and for nothing else. We never sell, rent, trade, or share the list.
You are only added to the email list after you click a confirmation link, so an address cannot be added by someone else typing it into the form.
How to leave
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and most email programs also show their own unsubscribe button at the top of the message. Either one works immediately and needs no reply from us.
Once you unsubscribe we keep a record that your address opted out. That record is what guarantees we do not mail you again, so removing it entirely would defeat the purpose. To have your details deleted outright instead, write to us and say so.
How long we keep it
Through the end of this campaign. Massachusetts campaign finance rules require committees to retain certain records, and where those rules apply they take precedence over deletion.
Questions about any of this go to team@lacorteforboston.com.
